A. Lange & Söhne

Both are great options but what about the 1815 chrono

I am a relatively new owner of the up down but looked at both. I preferred the up down as I found the indicator quite useful. It also adds a stronger vertical line from the date down to the power reserve. I feel the added dimension is just another way Lange strives for balanced perfection. I like the more open space in the up down as well as it is more legible at a glance. All brands have to evolve in some way and I think Lange's changes to the original are positive and still consistent with the brand's DNA. However, you can't go wrong with either piece.

One other option to consider is the 1815 chrono. That was my first Lange chrono and my wrist continues to come back to that one even though it feels like it should prefer the datograph. The 1815 chrono is like the person you think is attractive at first but you're not immediately drawn to him or her because that gorgeous datagraph just captures your eye. However, over time, you realize the 1815 chrono may really be the love of your life (just make sure you wear it on the Lange blue alligator strap).

I clearly spend too much time with my watches.
