its nice that the briefcase was made in Germany but you'd think Lange would use full grain leather rather than cheaper "genuine leather" its like the difference between filet mignon and ground beef hamburger patty even though both are beef. "genuine leather" is the lowest and cheapest grade of leather, it goes 1. full grain 2. top grain 3. "genuine" leather
it makes no economic sense to use expensive German craftsman to make something using cheap materials. You'd make a far superior item using cheaper Chinese craftsman and superior top grade materials. The final cost would be equal but the made in china product would be superior because the base materials are superior
its nice to be gifted something but it would have cost Lange $30 usd more to make a superlative full grain leather briefcase rather than a mediocre genuine leather one and Lange is in the business of the superlative and their watch pricing certainly reflects that, especially brand boutique pricing.

I have tried both the new and the old model datograph in platinum in a trip to germany and i loved the newer version mainly because it sits better on the wrist. your taste in watches is second to none as your taste in your 991 Best, Ahmed
