A. Lange & Söhne

Okay guys time to graduate to Lange. Have/had AP's, Patek's, blah, blah, blah...and want to start into the dark (bright) side of ALS. I'm torn (and I know easy answer is both--and agree I will ultimately) between Zeitwerk 140.029 (WG) or Dato Up/Down 405.... 

At the end I would choose the Datograph because the chronograph experience of Lange is really amazing. The Dato Up & Down is really a great piece with the perfect triangle which was preserved. The larger size gives it a more slender style than the ori...

First of all, allow me to give the requisite pre-congratulations on choosing one of the sweetest Langes offered in either the Dato or Zw. If you are after a real opinion, I will say that I had a simialr dilemma recently.. and I stuck to the watch that had...

and loved them both :) I really like the new Dato U/D as it has a little modern touch, a cleaner dial (but not feeling "empty"), the oversized date and the pushers' activation feeling. The only problem with my thin wrist is a problem of comfort. The Zeitw... 

Thank you for the reply Mark. You comment on fun vs more traditional is interesting. I'm s sports watch kinda guy, so the natural choice is Zeitwerk. I wear a lot of short sleeve more casual wear, so that watch fits that mode. HOWEVER, the Dato U/D dial i... 

For me the original Dato is perfect but if you must have larger then get the Up Down. The dial on the original is perfect and it makes a great watch to pair with WG ZW. Knowing you for years as I do you will get both so congrats on both now a matter of wh... 

You know me well Ken...just a matter of time for the other.

However, I was trying to chose between WG Zeitwerk and Langematik perpetual; surprisingly I ended up getting a Platin Dato up and down which was spur of a moment decision ( take it or leave it kind of a thing). In the end, I couldn't be happier with my ac...

Go with your gut, but my choice would be the Datograph. I just like the look of it a tad better. Good luck!!! Tony

Really jealous that you can afford any one of this watches, just a joke. great that you can. I would go for the zeitwerk for the mechanism, that it. Also is amazing that the minutes goe by exactly when 60 seconds hand goes throught the spot.

I would choose Pt. Datograph. :)

I love both pieces, but I think that would be my first choice. If we were talking about the Zeitwerk Luminous, then I would change my mind in favor of it. :) Whatever you choose, you can't go wrong, both are exceptional timepieces. Good luck. Vte

Can't argue with that--I too would jump on the Phantom! BUT, back to reality of pieces available....:-)

I love the Datograph, but I think the Zeitwerk is way more amazing. I love the digital like display and the movement is equally amazing to look at.
