Good choice, IMHO...
The 1815 Automatik is a perfectly sized watch -- classic. And it has the Langematik movement, which is spectacular. I NEVER tire of looking at that movement. It's a wonderful watch with a classic look. You're getting it preowned, so assuming you're paying a fair price, you can always sell it later without getting hurt.

Iconic, perfect size, very useful complications, including date. Manual wind, so you will bond even further with your first Lange. An absolute classic.

Starting with a Sax-O-Mat caliber is an excellent option.
I will be frank with you: I prefer the Sax-O-Mat caliber with Langematik watches because for me, the 1815 is more a handwind watch. But it remains a superb watch. The 37mm case is perfect for a dressed watch. The 1815 Automatic was a kind of shooting star...
