I actually quite like the Zeitwerk Date as photographed - in the abstract. When I had a chance to handle one a few weeks ago, I discovered that I could not read the date without reading glasses on, and with some difficulty even with the glasses. For my eyesight, the red highlight on the current date contrasts insufficiently with the gray surround. It might work better if the numeral cutouts were slightly larger, but that would compromise the dial proportions on what is already a large watch for the Zeitwerk collection. I find that the variants on this circular date display with colored highlights featured on the VC Quai de l'Ile and the Nomos Update far more legible.
So, while I like the model, I'd go for the original Zeitwerk or the Striking Time in its stead.

The digital date is nicely done
and coherent with the digital time. But 44.2 mm… no thank you. And I like simpler Zeitwerk dials better.

Excellent piece, Nicolas.
Strongly prefer to pink gold version of this model. To my eye, the metal and dial combo brings out much more depth in the piece. Love the ZWD - if I were to go again, my next Lange.
I like the front a lot as well.
Maybe the best Zeitwerk for me, if only it is a little smaller.
