I can’t believe that it’s already the 40th Anniversary of Audemar Piguet’s iconic watch, the Royal Oak. From the first time I’ve saw one at my local AD I’ve always been attracted to the 39mm size of the Royal Oak more so than the currently popular Offshor...
I really enjoyed your report and the process you went through to reach the skeleton, about the steel stylus, I wouldn't pull it out and keep it exactly where it is, use a toothpick instead, trust me on this, you'll avoid many scratchy situations LoooL S
Hi Salman, Thanks so much for the suggestion about the stainless steel stylus. I didn't think about it and now that I know it makes sense to use something softer that won't scratch up the watch. Great idea, I'll have to remember that. I'll keep the stylus...
In full agreement with SalmanQ8 about the toothpick, but make sure you use a soft wood toothpick with a well defined point. Avoid using plastic and bamboo toothpicks.
Thanks for the feedback Patrick. I'll have to find some wooden toothpicks (maybe pick some up from the next restaurant I go to) and then round-off and soften the tip a little with a clean Swiss pattern file. Regards, ED-209
Hi SRG, Thanks! To me the subdial at 3 o'clock that displays the date is a little hard to read because of the small numbers between 1 and 31. But other than that I think the reason why I sometimes find it hard to real everything on the dial is because I e...
In this skeleted version, it is not only a piece of horology, it is also a scultpural masterpiece. On my wish list... Bravo, and thanks for this well written review. Best, my friend. Nicolas
I really enjoy this timepiece and know how much you love it. May I suggest, instead of your initials though, perhaps "4 5" on the rotor or maybe "M D" for Ma?? ;-)
I really like the AP perpetuals. I hope to find a pt skeleton someday. I had the rotor changed on my RG AP RO perpetual and truthfully I prefer the AP rotor. My initials do not look quite right on the rotor. I agree that the size is perfect and they are e...
Dear Ed, I know the feeling, its just a fantastic watch . I appreciate it more and more every day. I agree that the hands are magnificient,to me they are the most elegant striking feature. Thank you for the beautiful report. Mo...
...personally i also like AP RO PC. i remember i had a chance to trying one, not in usually dial and solid caseback quite some time back. although that watch is not skeleton dail as beautiful as yours, i was so impressed by its elegance and classic. compa...
Hi Stefan, Thanks for the kind words. I'm really enjoying my AP RO PC and its now my daily watch. How are you enjoying your G.O. perpetual? Regards, ED-209
didnt know there is a three day "limit" on using the crown to adjust time/day forward, before having to resort to using the correctors. very smart feature. really enjoyed this report. kudos, Horo
Thanks Horo for checking out this post. I'm not sure exactly why it is 3 days, but in the manual it says that after 3 days there is a specific procedure to follow to reset the watch. The time needs to be advance by a day and set to noon so it doesn't dama...
I always screw up at the moonphase, plus I will definitely forget the sequence. That's why I should stick to simple QPs with long power reserve. The only QP that make it as weekly watches are the IWC portugese...super easy to use, with 7 days PR. The AP i...
