Audemars Piguet

A love short lived;)

In the last couple of days I did a little “watch reconnaissance”, checking out boutiques and second hand shops, touching bases with old dealer friends, see some forgotten references and also new releases that we might not see in the official AD’s, plus I was curious about the state of the market, trends, etc..
So while browsing, going tru trays of watches, I stumbled on this twenty two years old AP chronograph and it was love at first sight(Yes, we all heard that before), but reallywink))
I liked this reference since the beginning of times due to two factors, one being that is the first Royal Oak chronograph reference from the house of AP, secondly, because I’m a huge admirer of the caliber 2385, which is a Frederic Piguet 1185.
In my humble opinion this is one of the best, if not the best automatic vertical clutch chronograph movement ever made and also one of the first with Zenith if memory serves me well.
The pusher feel is just perfect and equally balanced with the reset.
But what I liked the most, is the fact that is not a mint safe queen, or restored example, it’s an honestly worn and preserved example, with all the bells and whistles it was sold in 2003!
So I made it mine on the spot without hesitation, however the movement as expected was totally functional but dry, therefore without wasting time, I walked over to the AP boutique and off it went to service.
Now the bad news(there’s always one), is, that due to the service center relocating, the service time will be about six months!
So there you have it friends, my patience is being tested againwink
Hope to see you back soon…!
