“1953 was a special year for Audemars Piguet as it marked the arrival of design legend Gerald Genta.
Genta went on to design every Audemars Piguet wristwatch produced from 1953 until the release of the Royal Oak two decades later.”

Interestingly, Audemars Piguet did a round version of the same movement: caliber 9/10 RS (instead of “RSQ”).

Personally, I absolutely love not only the architecture of the 9/10 RSQ caliber, with its “S”-shaped central bridge, but also the watches that house it.
