I'd say the Boxster is pretty fun - but then again, my criteria for fun has changed too. And in America we can't drive at the speeds the Europeans can. And we have fewer twisty roads than on the old Continent. Suspension grip is the only flaw on a Porsche Boxster in my opinion, at this price point, a double wishbone should be de riguer. Steering is about as good as it gets in today's Electric Power Steering world. The PDK transmission is still the best in the business and it knows not to shift too harshly if you happen to shift in a turn, this is to minimize any upset or weight transfer while turning which could interrupt your grip. I haven't driven the Alpine, but it's a very different category of car. Alpine is a much smaller and lighter car. May not be a good comparison. Alpine does have double wishbone though! Brakes on a Porsche are almost always quite good. I don't know Bim! This is almost as good as it gets! Sure, a GT3 engine might be more scintillating, but this is pretty close to perfection! I think you need a Lamborghini Huracan! After I drove the Lamborghini Huracan, I found the 911 to be too sterile. Driving a 911, yes, it's great, it's fun, the car is communicative, and even the exhaust note is good. But once you drive the Lamborghini HUracan, that emotional exhaust note, that emotional engine, the engine is so flexible at revving and so eager to rev up... Only problem with the Lamborghini is the steering is a little dull, even in the RWD models - the AWD models are obviously even worse. The Lamborghini transmission is also not quite as intelligent as the PDK but so darn good already.
I'd like to see BIM in a Corvette z06 (C8 generation), the latest one is supposedly the best car in the world according to one journalist - he said it was almost faultless, just a little heavy, too wide, and hard to see out of. He added the Porsche GT3 (992 generation) is easier to drive and get used to, but once you're used to the Corvette, it might be better. Will the BIM ever consider an American machine???
