Gone but not forgotten - the CLS πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ

The nameplate has disappeared from the MB portfolio recently and doesn’t look likely to be replaced. The first gen was a result of a McKinsey project and called Jag fighter - there were days when they took Jaguar seriously in Stuttgart. Some years ago, that.

I had two of the final generation and enjoyed both immensely. For some inexplicable reason the V8 was no longer offered in the swansong generation. The 3 liter inline 6 in the 53 was a lovely engine irrespective and somewhat more refined than the more bonkers 63 experience.

In spite of the four door coupe profile space was perfectly adequate and even the boot was reasonably usable. I guess the BMW 8 Gran Coupe is the last representative of the species and that one will disappear soon, too.

Oh well… was fun while it lasted and I am on and off looking at classifieds, might yearn for one again πŸ˜‰

Any cars from your past you miss?
