I own a Tesla and while the brakes are terrible, and the gas pedal isn't hinged on the floor, and the glass isn't hydrophobic, and there's a lot of road/tire noise on certain pavements. There are a few other small problems too. But overall, despite all of that, I actually do think the car is pretty good. For how cheap it is, I think you get a lot of car for the money. As an individual who's quite sensitive with race track experience, I'd say I'm more knowledgeable than the average bear - but I can't say that I'm a better expert witness than a professional race car driver. I've always driven Mercedes and BMW vehicles, so there are some things that are a surprise to me as a Tesla owner. Most of the surprises are not pleasant. But there are also some areas where the Tesla is excellent. Overall, as a commute car, the Tesla passes. The brakes really are awful. I wouldn't be able to brake in a box consistently. But as a "fun" car... The Tesla doesn't pull my emotional strings. But from a technical perspective, Tesla did do a lot of things right. The Model 3 is the only car in its category that had a double wishbone suspension! That's a big deal! Great chassis architecture in some degrees.
