It was in the Ford era, and from 1991 - 1997 (XJ40 and X300). This cars are very reliable and improved.

The Ford V8 had the first years, till 2000, problems with plastic guides for the timing chain, and a lot of chains tear off with the result of a capital engine damage. In 2000 the changed the guides, now in metal. The second problem was the Alusil coating of the cylinders, same problem like the 911 - 996 and 997 from the same period. In countrys with a high proportion of sulfur in the petrol they all has new engines. The improved V8 from 2002 with 4,2 ltr had no problems and is a perfect Maschine.
I have this car three years and everthing is working perfect. Never I had the problems which I expecting when I bougth the car. He is not a tipical Jaguar, because I never found oil on the floor in the garage.
