DAIMLER SIX Mod. X300
Last weekend we saw the X308 VANDEN PLAS LWB with the V8 motor. In some countries the name DAIMLER was protected, so the called them VANDEN PLAS. The X308 was the last car from DAIMLER / VANDEN PLAS, the stoped production in 2003.
This DAIMLER SIX is the predecessor, the only two years build, X 300 from 6/95 to 6/97. It is the last Jaguar/Daimler with motor from Jaguar, the last evolution of the Jaguar six cylinder motor AJ6, 4,0 ltr. and 240cv, ........ enough to glide.
Only a few X300 had a Short Wheelbase like this one, it was a special order. Standard for Daimler/Vanden Plas was a Long Wheelbase with more place for the back seats and longer back doors.

I guess this was during the ford era. The v8 was much improved over the the 6. Enjoy
It was in the Ford era, and from 1991 - 1997 (XJ40 and X300). This cars are very reliable and improved.
The Ford V8 had the first years, till 2000, problems with plastic guides for the timing chain, and a lot of chains tear off with the result of a capital engine damage. In 2000 the changed the guides, now in metal. The second problem was the Alusil coating...
