Automotive

Nice review Patrick, thank you

As you know I have had electric cars, hybrids, good old internal combustion motors, and I've driven the Mirai and Clarion hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

I haven't been in a model 3 although I've driven the S, the X and the roadster. The 3s are popping up everywhere here in Southern California - I guess I'll have to go drive one.

I got a notice from Tesla last week that I can order a car like you drove for 2-3 months delivery (perhaps because I used to have a deposit on one).

Model 3 is available to order, and no reservation is required in the US.
We’re now offering all our best options—including our Long Range and Performance configurations with dual motor all-wheel drive.
You can design and order yours today for delivery in as soon as 1-3 months.

Model S, Model X and Model 3 are all capable of achieving around 300 miles of range on a single charge — ourgoal is to get you anywhere beyond that with access to convenient charging options on any route.
We are currently opening new Superchargers somewhere in the world every week, and as we learn of new popular routes and destinations, our global charging network will continue to expand.
Enter any route below and see how our network can keep you charged along the way.

I am thinking about it - but I am bothered by (a) limited color & trim choices, (b) extraordinarily high prices for options & equipment.

When I consider that I leased the Fiat for 3 years for out of pocket $10k total, the Tesla just goes off the scale in terms of cost per mile, as I don't drive that much.

As the owner of 7 cars already I am fully aware of the suspension of reality that one's brain goes through when considering a sexy car purchase ...

Cheers,

Mike
