Not bad, this new Ram.

When I bought my GMC Sierra HD, I drove all of the "Big 3".  I was not biased to any of them and wanted to choose what I liked most.  In the diesel option, the Duramax / Allison platform is the best, and that was the ultimate reason for my decision.  Funny thing too, at the time, the output numbers of the Duramax trailed far behind both Ram and Ford, but in real world hauling conditions, the Duramax / Allison combo bests them.  Not only in pulling power and smoothness, but the GM exhaust brake is perfected.  Now the Duramax is in a new generation and the numbers are more on par, and of course it still bests the competition for towing.

Now, I must admit, I really liked the interior of the Ram I drove, and this new model looks even nicer.  These 1500 platforms are an extremely competitive market.

America is definitely truck country.  Here is a shot of my 2500 hitched up to a friend's boat a few months ago.  Boat and trailer were 16,000 LBs, the truck hardly knows anything is back there.
