That eTorque system is exactly (in theory) the system that my Honda Insight uses

Gas motor "boosted" by electric power reserve from a moderately small and light pack of batteries. Almost like a turbocharger. Good for about 5 straight minutes of boost, then exhausted until later recharged during braking. Adds about 10 mpg in my application, as I drove it for a year with a dead battery pack before finally caving in and replacing it.

The other advantage is it spins the motor about 3x faster than a conventional starter motor, so the cold starting and stop light re-starting are so instantaneous you can't believe it. Twice in 100,000 miles my big battery was too low to start the car, and it had to use the conventional one. Cranka cranka cranka start. It seems absurb when you are used to Turn, millisecond varoom.

Your mileage may vary but I think it's a great benefit, certainly better than Sirius
