One that got away...1968 Dodge Charger 440 Magnum.
After seeing the movie Bullitt in 1968 I was enthralled with the Dodge Charger, not the Mustang. So I hunted around and found one in 1970 and painted it black with a black vinyl top and Bob's your uncle.
Unfortunately I sold it in 1973.
Bullitt was a movie with the greatest car chase of its time, and maybe ever. The Director of Photography was William Fraker. I got the chance to talk to him for a while when he was using the bar I worked in to film a Whoppi Goldberg movie, Burglar in 1987.

No doubt. Best car chase ever filmed...at least that I know of.
I think that Volkswagen appears in almost as many shots as the action cars do!
Now Bullet was what you call a movie, no stupid CGI or special effects just real people doing really hard driving stunts.
I haven't seen the film in a very long time now but do remember going to the cinema to see it and loving every second of it. I mean come on fast cars Robert Vaughn, Steve McQueen and the beautiful Jacqueline Bisset plus an actual plot and story to the fil...
Back in the day we had a game we played where the driver put a 20 dollar bill on the dashboard....
and if the passenger could grab it, while the driver was going through the gears, he could have it. The g force stuck you back into the seat and you could never quite grab it. Very frustrating.

Great chase scene, iconic actor and really captured the grittiness of SF back in the day.
my 2nd favorite chase scene has to be Ronin.
