Blancpain

As an

Owner of both a BP 1106 (basically a manual wind 1151) and a Jaeger 928 (similar to 889), I would have to say both represent excellent value for money in terms of engineering quality, finish, reliability and aesthetics. They are the "workhorse" calibres for a large number of JLC, AP & BP calibres and both proven designs.

As for which one I'd go for.....well, if you can stomach some of JLC more recent designs (and I personally can't), then it offers slightly better VFM if you can get the movement in a stainless steel case. I think BP finish their dials, hands & bezels slightly better than JLC, and have classier looking dress watches generally. On which subject, I would have to draw your attention to the new Chopard Classic MkIII with 3.96 movement. It's even cheaper than the JLC and (IMVHO) has a more interesting movement. It also looks a hell of a lot nicer!. Check it out on the Chopard forum.....

Sorry for the short & uninformative post but I'm insanely busy at work at the moment!
