Wrist Obsessed

Breguet responds, again
Yes, I was alarmed at the damage report too, so much so that I emailed the VP of Customer Service. I guess the previous owner did not have the watch overhauled every five to seven years, as is recommended. Part of me says, "yeah, those gaskets wear out;" the other part says, "yeah, but Dad hasn't had his Rolex off his wrist in 40 years, and there's no condensation inside his watch."
Maybe all his gears are rusted. That's for the next owner to find out. :-/
In the meantime, my Dad has saved $950 x 5=~$5K on overhauls not purchased. Is it worth the risk?
Here's my email and his response:
Peter,
Will the rust be taken care of? Is there permanent damage?
Also, if you get it to [AD] Thursday morning, I can pick it up
around noonish. FYI in case you need one more day.
Thanks,
Ben
Dear Ben,
The rusted wheels are changed as part of the service, so this will not
be an issue going forward.
Thank you for letting us know about the delivery for Thursday, we will still strive for Wednesday but will take this into consideration should anything arise during the final stages of the repair.
Sincerely,
Peter Foster
So, allegedly I get my watch back tomorrow. I'm trying to not get my hopes up, so that I won't be disappointed, but it's impossible: I'm aching for my watch to be back on my wrist.
