Breguet

Drowning my sorrows.

But first:

I think this looks terrific despite the size. Maybe because it’s so slim but it doesn’t look too small.

But if you look closely you’ll see a problem on the dial. I won’t make you guess. The hands are not aligned.

I thought I’d get a picture of the movement and have the strap put on by my watchmaker. I figured he’ll do it right-no scratches on the case. So I drove the 30 miles to his shop only to find out he was closed today through Monday.

I then made a huge mistake. In my impatience to accomplish what I had set out to do I googled watchmakers nearby and found one much closer to home. There I went.

He was a young man with displaced confidence. He said opening the case to take a picture was no problem. It was.

He opened the top, not the bottom, and somehow knocked the minute hand off the pivot. It took about 15 minutes to get it back on and set it to function properly with the hour hand. Only he failed miserably. The hands do not align and the watch doesn’t run. And my watchmaker is not available until Tuesday.

So I’m drowning my sorrows with a Montecristo and a lot of Gordon’s Export.

I hope everyone’s Friday is better than mine.

Cheers
