Cartier makes an enormous range of watches. Personally I'd go for the Santos Galbee XL. It's entry level but iconic in design. If one buys a Cartier it is easy to choose one of the brand's classic shapes like Tank and Santos. An iconic Cartier shape is ea... 

I agree with that, the Santos Galbée is the best entry level the company ever had and this last version has so much improved in dial and case design. Very comfortable and all round watch. Very interesting report SJX, especially this one, your visit to Car... 

with the immediate one being in San Franciso and later in Prague. A selection is always on show in a private room on the upper floor of Rue de la Paix boutique. The items stored in Geneva are not for public display, but fortunately there are always shows ... 

For a Cartier, I want a Cartier case..but with a dense amount of Cartier's character infused into it. Again...it helps that this case is not copied too much, or any. Also..I like ETA for long term classic keep forever watches. Not always..but it helps.

SJX, Thanks for this series of photo reports. I have been driven past the outside of Cartier assembly plant many times, either on the way to, or back from, the many factories, suppliers and Manufactures surrounding La Chaux-de-Fonds. We've never had time ... 

looks awesome. you are prob right, in my minds, there seems to be a "natural" slant group[ing Cartier with jewellers making watches, ala De Grisogono, chopard etc etc. sometimes i overlook Cartier horological past n glories. good job mate, when r u headin...

I did not ask the specific question of why the ID One will not be commercialised, even on a small scale, but can think of two reasons. The first is practical, because the ID One cannot be made in series. I think, however, that the more likely explanation ...

ID One is indeed something unique.... It would be interesting to see it in use..... and prove that no service is needed..... (I am not saying this in a negative way)... cheers
