When it first came out I saw one in red gold at the local Cartier store. They offered me the watch at a price they told me was super special, heavily discounted.
I left them a deposit and told them I’d be back the next day. Once at home I checked the official price and it was the same price they were offering me. I didn’t like it, I felt deceived, and returned the next day to ask for my deposit. The watch is rather tall (thick) for its diameter but I love the looks and the “idea”, the concept, of it. Years later, at Cartier in NYC, they offered to assemble one for me from movements they had left, but they wanted an ungodly amount of money for it. So I passed, again. 🤷🏻♂️

Probably my all time favourite Cartier of them all is this Cartier Tortue Chronographe Monopoussoir 'CPCP'.
This model in white gold and with the blue dial is for me "The One" I don't know why exactly but this one just speaks to me so strongly and I just find it so beautiful. Marc

Years ago I searched for this particular version-WG, blue markings-and when I finally found it the dealer wouldn't sell to me because I was in the USA. I can't remember exactly what it was listed for but certainly under 15K USD. I ultimately got that move...
It is hard to believe, but
Cartier AD in Hong Kong sold me one at 30% off in 2003 and to sweeten the deal offered a mechanical Basculante at equivalent of 1600 USD. Tnat was before boutiques became a commonplace. How the times changes. And I still have both.
