Chopard’s Novelties from Watches & Wonders 2023 . . .
I had the great fortune of being invited to the Chopard NYC Boutique to see their stunning novelties from this year’s Watches & Wonders on Thursday night. IMHO Chopard hit it out of the park with their new releases. They won the Watches & Wonders 2023 “World Series” title without a doubt, at least in my mind.
Let’s cut to the chase and “double the frequency” starting with their Alpine Eagle Cadence 8HF in titanium:
It quite striking in the flesh with an almost matt black colored dial and the pop of orange. Unfortunately, another piece caught my attention and captivated my heart as you will see in the end!
This next impressive stunner is the L.U.C 1860 in Lucent Steel:
The hand guilloche gold dial along with the details are exquisitely executed. One really needs to see this in the flesh to fully appreciate these details. And you will notice, there is no date! Hello, Breguet, can you hear us??? Are you listening??? Just saying . . .
And then the engine room:
And finally, the piece that captivated my heart, the Alpine Eagle 41 XPS:

After initially getting over the “sticker shock,” I contacted my SA and asked to be placed on the list for the Alpine Eagle 41 XPS. On Thursday, he said, “Geneva approved my request,” which is great news!!!👏👏👏 Although I didn’t realize this was so formal??? He said I can expect mine late this year / early next year, which is reasonable IMHO considering I have no prior purchase history. BUT this does highlight the fact that networking is so critical in this hobby since I’ve visited the boutiques multiple times over the years and have developed a relationship with my SA!

Unfortunately, the bracelet does not have a micro-adjustment feature. Then again, this feature is lacking across the entire range of high-end, integrated-bracelet sport watches. If memory serves me correctly, the Czapek Antarctique has this feature . . .

VC Overseas has it too, and since this year the new Patek Nautilus. I guess I'm getting more and more picky with age, and comfort is one of my highest priorities 😅
