Chopard

Comments regarding finishing and size

Actually I think the two-tone appearance with the gilded base plates and the German silver bridges, as well as the polished flat steel levers looks fantastic. It gives it depth and sets off the functional aspects of the movement.

More critical to me than the movement size are the positions and size of the subdials, and I believe Chopard has got this aspect just right. The dial looks great, and even better on the PuristS edition without the date window perforating the dial.

The Chopard Cal. 03.07-L  measures 28.80mm x 5.62mm. That's around 12 3/4 Lignes. The famous Patek / Lemania CH27-70 measures 27.5mm x 5.57mm. The current Datograph Up Down is a little larger at 30.6mm and the El Primero is 29.33mm in diameter. The ETA/Valjoux Cal. 7750 measures 30mm x 7.9mm. But it is also the proportions that are significant. The relatively thin Chopard Cal. 03.07-L achieves this partly with the flat levers which also provide strength. And the column wheel is actuated directly off the pusher.

There is a lot to like about this 'little' jewel of a movement.
