It’s alright on the regular style version, but this one would’ve looked so much the better without the date display muddying things.

I am not bothered by the date. Better without? Maybe, but for how many watches can we say the same thing. I find the overall dimensions interesting - almost square. Yet it looks more vertical of course. I love the shape, I have a tonneau Carl F. Bucherer ... 

...without the date. The shaped movement is beautiful and rare these days.

And I feel the date function has been executed impeccably- it doesn't deter from the overall curvaceous symmetry, and provides functionality in a slender form. Micro rotor, slim movement... Geneva hallmark all add to the appeal. Lovely addition!

Porcelain-style means it is not grand feu enamel fired at 800 degrees C. Like both the L.U.C 1963 Chronometer and the L.U.C 150 The Tribute. Both those watches had no date because they used the huge hand wind pocket watch movement in the style that would ...

In that it is a superb watch overall but that the date is somewhat unnecessary or even detracting from the whole. I hope a special, date free version will get made in a couple of years

Online, many commentators and armchair critics pronounce their "preference" for dateless watches but in the real world, the vast majority of watches sold have date displays. Thus, until those people actually buy and create a real demand, we won't get it. ... 

However much some of us prefer our watches date free, lots of 'conventional' watch buyers are happy with one. At the same time, I am still somewhat unsure, where the boundary lies - i.e. do the marketing departments of watch manufacturers simplify things ...

Irrespective, it’s up to the company to serve up the alternative, especially as they monitor social media channels such as these for feedback – well, here it is, now the ball’s in their court. If I may be further so bold as to help their design department...

It's because it has a "supercharged" L.U.C engine inside. The movement is from the L.U.C 1963 Chrono PuristS Edition, which had the date disc deleted and Geneva Seal homologation. Thus, the 90th Anniversary Mille Miglia commemoration watch has an upgraded... 

Was just trying to strengthen the case, especially since a version of the movement exists with a date, as used in the non-Purist 1963s

I happened to be at the factory late August (with embargo note, of course), and here are the live photos! Very well made dial. Thin, super dress watch. Wonderfully finished back. The curved shape fits the wrist well. I really like this one... Nice dress w...

Robin, Nice to see you back on PuristSPro too. It's a mystery how the L.U.C Tonneau watch escaped my collection....so far. Back in the mists of Time, I passed on the old L.U.C 3.97 as it was called then. I even passed on the rare 200 piece Prince of Wales...
