"He does, however, admit to a spot of modification. "In those days cars were inclined to be fairly oily, so you'd get a lot of grease on it," he says. "I couldn't wash the leather straps, so I thought I'd make one from metal." He visited a jeweller in Monte Carlo. "Chopard didn't make bracelets then, as one downside was the requirement to correctly fit the piece to each person. The upside is it's a nice piece of jewellery." These days, he wears a steel Chopard for day, gold for night, both on bracelets."
