A few more Double Split photos
Had a little time over the weekend, so tried some additional photos of the DS.
It is not an easy watch to photograph, which makes me all the more appreciative of the many fine photos I've seen of the DS here and elsewhere! The movement is more complex than the Dato, but recessed so deeply into the case that it's hard to get the sense of immediacy that you do with the Dato. And the AR on the front crystal does all sorts of crazy things to the light...ah well.
For these shots I used a Nikon 85mm PC-E tilt-shift lens, and in a couple of cases actually did composite images of up to 3 initial images using the auto-merge function in Photoshop.

The technique takes a bit of practice, and it really helps to have the right equipment, but at the end of the day it's 97 percent equipment and software, 3 percent me. Fun to play around with these images, though! Best, Gary
That 3 percent is what was called "The Eye"
when I was in marketing a long time back. The best equipment without The Eye still will not render good shots and you'd be surprised how few have The Eye.

Does the movement actually do any noises ...
like a giant screak, cruch or jar when the levers and the clutches engage or disengage? That movement looks so monumental as if it would echo in the case when being activated. Congrats to this magnificent collector's dream watch. Regards Moritz

Well, perhaps a few quiet clicks

It's amazing that Photoshop can get such a great photo using only three photographs. My photos come out mostly blurry because there is so much depth to the movement, and when you throw in the side angle, it is very difficult indeed to get a completely goo...
