A nice surprise: the new Cellini collection.

 

I will come back to it with more details but at least, it was for me a nice surprise to see a more ambitious Cellini collection. We all agree that it was impossible to do worse than the current collection, full of uninspired watches except maybe the Prince. It is the reason why all the people who handled the new ones found them great.

Great? Yes when we compared them with the starting point. But I didn't find them perfect. Some details, like the solid caseback and the impossibility for me to see the movements annoyed me a bit. But... the strong asset of these watches is to take advantage of the Rolex reliability and precision in a more formal case. I'm sure that the sales of this collection will improve taking into account their rather reasonable prices.

The best of the collection? The Dual Time with its nice and delicate day&night display...

The design of the case is interesting enough, echoing the serrations on the caseback, but I found the dials bland and unremarkable. From the prices, they're going into a very competitive market where there's not much exposure for their brand, so they real...

But it's that large second hand that kills it. I will say, I do like the Cellini Cellinium in platinum with the ice blue face. That's a good looking watch. And also a fairly nicely finished hand wound movement.

Prince is the only Cellini that interests me. [nt]

I know most fuss goes the the WG GMT but that is, apart from the Cerachrom and the white gold, nothing new design wise. And I also agree on the Dual Time being the nicest. I mean: the 39 mm is spot on dressy + a nice moon/sun display. Only thing i wonder,...
