Audemars Piguet

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Diver Orange first review !!

This is a first quick review of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Diver in Orange smile

My love affair with the orange funky colour started last year with the Royal Oak Offshore Diver Chrono edition. This said I couldn't commit to the watch because it was slightly bigger and less comfortable
than the standard diver and..the missing date for me is a no no wink (I have way too many purist style watches without date and every now and then I have to fetch my phone to check the date..so annoying if you sign
documents on a regular basis)

Without further introductions here it is, in all its orange splendour  smile

The inner side is in blue (in this light might seem black but is a dark blue)

Fits well with a Hermes Orange tie !

What to say about this watch ? I think it is a typical love it or hate it affair. To me the idea to include the blue strap is a great one so in case that someone grows tired of the funky orange, may be in winter months,
can morph into a more format look. The watch is clearly a summer, sporty watch yet I think it is well suited for someone looking for something very new and not that discreet ! but..in
a weird way this is not a watch that everyone will associate with an high end luxury item.  So in a bit of a perverse way it can be see as under the radar !

Don't be fooled by the fashion colour smile the watch is powered by the Manufacture Calibre 3120 with a 60 hours power reserve.
The movement can be admired from the sapphire casebook and uses a 24K gold rotor.

It does fit under a formal shirt so who said it is only for the beach ?

The white gold applied indexes complement the Mega Tapisserie of the dial that is highly legible. As you can spot here the inner circle is really a dark blue.
I love this watch because is very different and has a very high cool factor. Perhaps innovation should not come just in the form of a new movement but also refreshing some references.

The white dial Diver is stunning too (the traditional non limited version too) and perhaps more discrete but the orange is very individual.  My understanding is that this is a special edition of just
over 200 pieces in this colour so it wasn't so easy to get.

What do you think ? smile
