We just returned from our wonderful vacation to Paris. Traveling with our daughter and living in a Parisian apartment actually made trip unique as we experienced life as a local for a week. There was less museum or shopping but more quality time strolling the beautiful city. I have to say, Nicolas, you are spoiled!
Anyhow, when we travel we like to hit one nice restaurant and after reading about it on WFDB on ThePurstS.com , we were determined to try Restaurant Guy Savoy. We tried to hit many of Michelin Starred places in Vegas but most don’t allow kids. Guy Savoy Paris was the same as initially I tried to get reservation via email. I was accepted, then rejected (as I was open about the age of my daughter), and finally accepted after some convincing and being placed in the Private Room.
I am actually glad we had the Private Room as we managed to increase our party to include another family and the food arrived HOT as there is a separate kitchen dedicated to the Private Room. Also, if the normal dining room service was good, the Private Room was ever better.
The meal was to celebrate my wife’s birthday and our family’s first trip to Paris. It was a success and we loved the food. We love the city and will return.
On to the photos!
Private room décor:
Menu for the evening. I never took French so pardon my Google translations.
Amuse Bouche of Foie Gras Terrine and toast on a stick
Appetizer 2
Oyster with sea salt jelly.
Line-caught whiting with caviar, Dublin Bay prawn tartar and lemon jelly.
Daughter’s free range chicken and mash potato
Guy Savoy crispy potato chips, this was a hit with everyone.
Brenton lobster and roasted avocado, mushroom and coral jus.
Whole Grilled Sea Bass with sweet spices. The skin (scales) was crispy while the white meat was cooked just right. Everyone at the table wondered how this fish was cooked so perfectly.
Watercress root and hazelnut
Guy Savoy famous artichoke with black truffle soup. This was simply perfection and I had two servings as my wife (crazy) is not a fan of truffles.
Brioche with Truffle butter to accompany the soup.
Stuffed foie gras with radish served to the table in foil. Excellent presentation and it was delicious. Not too fatty and just the right flavors.
Our additional course of lamb three ways: saddle of lamb stuff with herbs, lamb chop with potato gratin, confit shoulder of lamb with crispy skin.
Cheese platter. The brie and the blue cheese were just fabulous.
On to the desserts:
Best marshmallow in my life.
Sour Apple sorbet.
Guy Savoy macaroons.
My wife’s early birthday candle.
Best rice pudding I have ever had.
Vanilla ice cream
Wines for the evening:
This red was out of this world.
White
Champagne well done with right amount of bubbles.
Going away present!
Mr. Savoy actually visited twice during our 4 hour dinner and we snagged this group picture.
Paris is a beautiful city and we loved visiting during the chilly (but not too cold) fall season. A few shots of this romantic city. There is no bad shot in Paris.
Visited this landmark on the first evening. Perfect at night.
Lastly,
