Hi All,
I am interested in your responses (emotional or otherwise) to hybrid (electrical + mechanical) watches.
Hybrids are becoming a very recognisable and accepted concept in cars where the advantages of power at low revs from an electric motor are combined with the power at high revs from a petrol/diesel engine.
Some companies, such as TAG Heuer with their Caliber S chronograph movement, have produced hybrid watches and I am wondering how PuristS react to these, both emotionally and intellectually. Is it against all we stand for or is it a trend we could tolerate? Are their strengths of mechanical watches that could be combined with strengths of quartz or other electrical movements?
I have my own personal biases, but I would be interested in your thoughts.
Andrew
