Hi,
I have an opportunity to purchase an interesting watch used at an attractive price and wanted to run things by the forum to get useful perspective. The watch in question is a Chronoswiss Chronoscope (CH 1523 BW). I like the look of this watch, but also have some concern that it's chronograph function is minimal (just seconds) and its regulateur format is too similar to my Chronoswiss Regulateur 24.
Let me show you the piece in question.

It is a 38 mm x 12 mm steel case with a display back. The dial is a regulateur format with central minutes, small second register and hour register. The chronograph function is a separate central sweep hand controlled by a mono-pusher located within the crown (push once to start, push a second time to stop and a third time to reset. It is a column wheel design built onto the dial side of the movement. The movement is a Chronoswiss reworked Encicar 165 running at 21,600 bph. Here is a diagram of the chronograph mechanism.
While part of me thinks that it is a classically beautiful piece, different dial aesthetic with a novel movement; another part of me counsels that it is another regulateur dialed watch with a minimally functional chronograph function due to the absence of minute and hour registers.
Comparison to my other Chronoswiss:
Size=38 mm vs. 40 mm
Dial=Black & antique white vs. Antique white
Hands: Purple, white and red vs. blue
Functions: 12 hours, minutes, seconds & chronograph seconds vs. 24 hours, minutes, seconds
Movement=Enicar automatic vs. Marvin manual
Strap: Polished bracelet vs. cognac alligator strap
I was thinking about buying the watch and putting it on a bracelet (similar the one shown in the image below). What do you guys think about this watch? I would appreciate hearing your councel.
BRACELET
Thanks,
Bob
