Never say never but at my age (72) and just being a regular guy, I think my watch (and fountain pen) buying days are largely over.
I have a rolex, 2 Cartier, a Reverso, a GP, a Bulgari, a panerai, iwc, nomos, Porsche Design, Speake Marin, Chronoswiss, rgm, ming, Anordain, several Oris and Glycine and about a dozen microbrands.
I'll never reach the PP or De Bethune heavens, but I'm okay with that.
Doesn't mean I won't continue to be a voyeur on WPS....

Doug, I feel the same as you. My collection
is much, much smaller, 2 Rolex, B&R, TAG, and many vintage pieces. I have a few fountain pens also, I think one more in each category and I will be done too. I still want a Montblanc fountain pen and a Cartier tank watch.
Yes, but I can't say I "need" them.
Actually I do need them to COMPLETE my meager collection, and make me stop thinking about them once and for all. I look at other watches and pens but these 2 never leave my mind.

Whilst a little younger than you I am also trying to be done but it is harder than one should expect after all they are only watches but the pull sometimes is just so hard to resist. I think i've done pretty well and have managed to reduce to just 4 watch...
Well everyone needs a GADA watch so in my twisted brain it doesn't really count :)))
But yes technically your right it is 5 why should something so easy actually be so hard to stick to, I would be lying if I didn't say I am currently strongly fighting the urge for something special but at least I'm contemplating one out to make it happen....

Doug, I think you have a very collection and should feel proud of what you’ve assembled!
My mind goes to a similar place often and then I see something that I can’t get out of my mind…I need help.
Larry, I've got to think of the hassle the kids will face.
The pens are a real nightmare...

btw- I’m not familiar with that Dufrane ,but I like that dial!
Dufrane is a microbrand based out of Austin tx.
He and his son assemble and regulate the watches. Once a year his artist wife does 10-15 special dials and they sell out in minutes.

Look up Dufrane Whitney collaboration and you can see this years collection. They sell out in minutes. The regular Waterloo is nice too. Copper or linen dial, top level Sellita movement, screw down crown and hand regulated for about 700-800 bucks.

Even though I am a couple of years younger than you, I find myself making the same decisions about adding to my watch and fountain pen collection after a considerable effort during the past 18 months to reduce both collections to an appropriate level for ...
