Laurent Ferrier launch event in Japan
Hello all,
Finally, Laurent Ferrier debuted in Japan with special model for Japanese market (teaser in the WristScan forum was meant to continue here
).
The Hour Glass Japan has ordered 39mm version of Galet Tourbillon and the first batch finally arrived. I tried to capture the difference, but unfortunately you may not notice a big difference. Nonetheless, you'd better believe me that for small wrist like mine, 39mm fits MUCH better and I like it very, very much.
Also shown was "Only Watch", the brown, sunbeam guilloche dial Galet Micro-rotor. I have a soft spot for the guilloche dial and I like that much, too. Also, the closer to the final versions of the Micro-rotor were shown and it is really nice. And price point for the three hands watch with new technology/material is very strategic and good.
Michel Navas (former 'N' of now-defunct BNB Concept, and currently a partner of LF) and Olivier Muller (CEO of LF). All the way right is usual Hirota-san...
Mr. Navas' today's watch - of course the latest creation of LF.
Galet Tourbillon on display.
This one is 41mm.
Interesting note is that the first batches of the cases are made by
cutting and grinding but it will be shifted to casting relatively soon.
Interesting development or evolution of LF.
According to the staff, the accuracy has been, with the dial up, less than 3 sec. per day consistently in the vault.
Now see the difference. Don't forget that the one at 2 o'clock something is 41mm, 7 o'clock something is 39mm, going forward.
The 39mm dial and hands were totally re-designed/re-ordered to make the proportion seen from the front almost the same as 41mm. Notice that the bezel does not look thinner. Strap size is 20mm vs. 19mm.
Movement size is the same, of course. As a result, the rim, unlike the bezel on front, is really thin here.

Can't you see?
Okay, here we go again, a bit closer.

May seem slight difference, but for my wrist to the wearer's eyes, the difference is night and day.
41mm on Mr. Muller's wrist and 39mm on my wrist. May show the difference more clearly.
Now the new Micro-rotor series. The sharp baton index are two-points riveted to the dial.
the Only Watch
Look at this pattern... Wow....
And after the event... Nice dinner or late dinner or whatever..... Friday night, guys only.....
Thank you Olivier and Michel for bringing such special pieces. Again, for small wristers like me, 39mm is very, very nice. Good job!
