MB silver pens from golden age…

I remember vividly many years ago when I started my fountain pen collection I was of course (like most pen lovers) strongly attracted by Montblanc Limited Editions and could not resist the beauty of some specific ones such as the famous Hemingway, Agatha Christie, Voltaire and others. But there were two that won my heart more than any other: the Lorenzo de Medici and the Marcel Proust, both of them from 90’s, both of them with an eight-sided barrel made of 925 sterling silver. Both are richly ornamented with hand-engraving. If these are strong similarities, there are also differences between these two works of art: the Lorenzo de Medici is the first of Montblanc’s famed 4810 Patron of Art Limited Edition series launched in 1992 while the Marcel Proust is from 1999 and is undoubtedly one of the most popular in the Writers Series. As for the nib, the one of the Lorenzo de Medici is delicately engraved with an unique heart-shaped hole (to my knowledge it is the one and only Montblanc pen with such a heart-shaped hole). As for the Marcel Proust, it bears a rhodium-plated 18-karat gold nib with a delicate engraving of an hourglass as a tribute to the masterpiece of the French writer named “In search of Lost Time”.

At the end, both are exquisite writing instruments.

Now enough talking, thanks for the reading and please enjoy few photos of these two pieces.

These few explanations are not meant to compare them and say that one is nicer than the other, I enjoy both and shall keep both anyhow.

Let's start with the Lorenzo de Medici

And here is the Marcel Proust
