Planet Ocean 8500

Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 8500 Si14 42mm

I have just bought this version of the PO, which is the smaller of the two 8500 based models. I rather like it!

The illumination is rather interesting, though I must confess I cannot tell the colour difference by eye - it only shows up under photographic conditions as listed here.

Some find the profile rather 'tall' but personally it is not an issue for me -  I have been used to 'taller' Breitlings in the past.  In fact, compared to the Rolex SD (16660) it is only a little 'thicker' by 1mm (16.10mm at the highest part of the slightly domes crystal, compared to 15mm for my 16660).

It is a heavy piece - but with the correct bracelet sizing it fits snuggly and well to my wrist.  I find the 1/2 link makes all the difference.

The thing that won me over was, of course, the sight of the 8500 movement which probably needs no introduction on the forum by now.

I won't bore you with another pic shall I?  OK perhaps I will - here you are - a closer look:

I hope you enjoyed the little pictorial.
