All,
I am looking to purchase my second Patek - first Calatrava. My first was a vintage Ellipse. I'm looking for a Calatrava, with well-balanced dial on a watch that can be worn on occasion and is known for reliability. Manual or automatic is ok, although a reserve du marche for a manual would be nice, like on the Breguet 5907. I also like the exhibition back.
My target watch is a 5109P with Black dial, but I doubt I'll find one anytime soon.
I liked the 5055G/Y, but keep hearing of reliability issues for that model. The 5022G is also very nice, but a little too small and no exhibition back.
The other watches I am also interested in are th 5196P, 6000G, and 5134G (maybe P, which is pricey). I really like the purity of the 5196P, but am disappointed there is no exhibition back, like on the manual 5134 series. As for the 6000G, I like the black dial, but it is a bit busy. The ADs tell me the 6000G is the hottest seller with the longest wait (main-stream watches), with the 5296 series close behind.
While investment is not my top priority, I do want a watch that should appreciate.
Any thoughts would be appreciated, including other potential models to consider. I do not want to exceed $25K, if possible.
TIA!
