F.P. Journe

Change in taste.

This is a very valid consideration. I think for all of us taste evolves, but I do think in the early days taste can change very quickly so you are right to be aware of this. I would not have been interested in Journe in my first several years of collecting, in part the price point was out of reach but also my taste was not for that.
A Sea-Dweller, a couple of Panerai and a Speedmaster were early acquisitions and the theme remained fairly “sporty” or casual for a long time. There were numerous watches which I look back upon now and wonder what I was thinking, but I think we all take those steps.
The best thing you can do is devour all sources of information and spend a good deal of time getting hands on with as much variety as possible. I think that’s easier today than 20 years ago and so perhaps one’s taste can be better refined earlier because of this.
