I think it is because the 38 mm is too close in size to the 39 mm
So the 39 mm will start to roll out more. I wonder if the 42 mm will continue or also be discontinued. I suspect some dial colors of the 42 mm will get discontinued. Let's see. I was hoping for a 37 mm. So maybe a 37 mm and a 39 mm eventually.

I saw the 38mm models offered for sale in Singapore
12K brand new, unworn...while the retail price is 22K (all in Singapore dollar). Show how weak GP resale value for new models. Scary... I hope this brand can survive.
I'm also hoping for GP to get back on the right track.
