Love your watch too, but to be fair, proportions, especially in the Macaluso era, were not always right - to me at least with smaller wrists… Lugs were often too long. The 21mm do not come because of proportion, rather because of commercial reasons… 😇

Well, at that time very few straps in that size where available from other manufacturers. Except of course from GP (or Breguet)…
Fortunately that has changed the last 10 years where now custom straps are widely, cost efficiently and in great quality available everywhere… 👍🏻
In my humble opinion
I do not think that GP made the lug widths 21 mm to sell more straps. But no way to tell for sure either way. Let’s just leave it at that. 🫶🏼

I could stick this dial on another watch and it would mean nothing. Look at the details of the entire watch and read about the provenance as well. Fancy Dial colors alone are but a novelty for the noobs. We are watchprosite purists. We have depth. 🤝
I can say from experience
That the case proportions are perfect. I love my standard 4946. This one is really extra special. My only wish, is that water resistance was upped to make it an all-rounder; my only gripe about a lot of this neo-vintage period.
