Friends,
The novelties from Girard-Perregaux for this year are not yet over! As one of the first to give you the news – even before the official press release: Girard-Perregaux Sea Hawk Beige, reference 49960!
GP gave me the green light to post this watch now, so here goes….
Normally when you hear someone say beige, you may not get very excited…
But this time you might… At least I am!
The Sea Hawk Beige is still the same ultra-modern diver with strong almost brutal force. But with this version Girard-Perregaux took a step towards the Vintage look and feel…
By mixing the colors we are used to and tweaking them GP transformed this watch into something that I think might be my favorite version. But let’s not jump ahead…
Let’s have a closer look at the watch.
Technically speaking, this version is not different from the others.
Steel case: 44 mm in diameter, 17.10 mm thick. Water resistant down to 1000 meters / 100 ATM. Inside is the GP03300-0074 automatic movement with a power reserve of 46 hours.
The dial layout is the same with hour, minute, sub-second, date and power reserve indicator.
On the back, the classic porpoise snake, anchor and trident.
What differentiates this version from the others is the look and feel.
The most eye catching is of course the beige luminous parts! Big and bold as always, but this time with a patina like beige color…
I really like it!
Makes me think of big Tritium markers that have turned into a creamy tone. Even the pearl on the bezel have this color.
Next is the bezel. Instead of a black bezel Girard-Perregaux opted for a grey brushed bezel pronouncing the first quarter with black lines…
Again I get a Vintage feel…. Like a black bezel the faded into a steel grey crown on top of the watch.
And to complete the Vintage look a beige alligator strap with rubber on the inside to protect the strap from sweat and water. This is new for this model! Earlier GP never offered alligator strap on the Sea Hawk.
I like that they choose the leather before the rubber or steel bracelet. The alligator makes the watch look a bit more elegant.
Yes, all this makes me think of Vintage dive watches!
BUT, then we have the modern side of the Sea Hawk. The big almost aggressive angled case, the big brushed metal surfaces… The rubber coated crown…
But what really made me see the modern and more technical part of the Sea Hawk is the dial pattern… Don’t know why but the honey cake web gives me a more technical feel…
Normally the dial is single colored and the pattern is only visible in certain angels or light. This time the “web” is black while the bottom of each “hole” is grey. On a distance this may look like a faded dial, but up close the modern side clearly shows!
On the wrist, the Sea Hawk is big, bold and powerful…
But the warmer tone is there!
You who follow us here in the forum know I am torn about which version I like the best… Blue? White? The Mermaid….?
And now this sweet nougat…
Man, I am in trouble!
Which version is your favorite?
Big thank you to the Girard-Perregaux team for letting me share this with you now!
Best
