Gyromatic Date Setting

I have a G-P Gyromatic from about 1958-1958, I rotate it regularly along with others in my collection. When setting it to the correct date I have to rotate the hour hand a full 24 hours past midnight to advance the date, this gets to be a real pain if the date is more than a couple of days off. I have tried turning it past 2 AM and back to 10 AM as someone once told me to do but that only turns the date back to the previous date. Is this they way all of the early Gyromatics date is advanced?

You need to turn it back to as early as 20:30h, then it should work [nt]

But may also be that there is no "quick setting"... Depending on movement. If I remember well, the early once didn't have the quick set. Best Blomman

prior to midnight the date reverts to the previous day so at this point I am assuming it has no quickset feature. Sometimes I just wear it with the date set to whatever it was on when the watch used all of the power reserve.

Ah, yes. I have one like that and indeed, that means no quick set

so as you said, either leave the date at whatever or just wear it all the time

That is what Ido many times - so approx. 32 days between each time! Best Blomman

With all my Gyros it works if I go back to 19:30 and then forward to 00:15

My Gyromatic ref: 7317 will change date backwards and forwards by the crown turning through 24 hours at a time either backwards or forwards - tedious but slightly less than some other slow forward-only date changers eg Omega calibre 561. It was 1957-58 I ...
