Actually. I prefer the way the “Girard-Perregaux’ appears to float on that dial. I just wished it also had the minute track as well. 


As far as the previous generation, I just thought 42mm was a bit on the large size. But for whatever reason I can’t really explain, it just appeared to wear smaller on my wrist. 

And I have seen the current Vintage 1945’s that are available. I came close to pulling the trigger on this one back in 2014:

But like the 42mm Laureato, it was too large for my wrist:
