I read your and Art's posts below. So I am not going to reopen the discussion here.

I would just like to offer some information about the name of Mr. Julius that may be helpful to overcome potential sentiments that might accompany the name for an English speaking person:

- If one pronounces the name the German way, both A are pronounced like in the English word "car". Both A are pronounced short.
- The name is not Assman, but Assmann. The second part translates to "man" like you suspected, but the first translates to "Ace".

So a proper pronouncation and a proper translation make quite a difference, don't they? smile
