There might be a problem
From my and other owners' experiences, it should start with far fewer then 30 turns. Maybe more along the lines of 10 or less. My advice is, since you just bought it, wait 1 or 2 more weeks, see if any change occurs. If not, I suggest you get it back to the AD and get the problem fixed.

I think, like most automatics, if you give it a little shake back and forth, it will start immediately. I have a J.L.C. that works in just this manner.
This one is manual wind
But even if it were automatic, I don't know if shaking it is recommended. Nick
