Hi Marcus,
Interesting observations. As an observation, it seems that GO's terroir or "signature style" is represented in the quality and design of its visible movements -- 3/4 plate, large date, swan neck adjustment, etc. Whereas, the design aesthetic is treated as a sort of repackaging of a continually improved movement.
In contrast, the big watch houses seem to do the inverse -- repackage the movement & maintain iconic styling queues, eg. Cartier, Rolex, Patek, AP.
Can creativity burn out too fast? Is that ultra-fast pace in producing new models really necessary?
As to the first question, perhaps yes. As to the second, this may be a reason why the big houses are careful to preserve their iconic styles.
