About seven years ago I realized...
...that if any one of my watches takes mindshare - worrying rather than enjoying - then it's time for it to leave my collection.
As others say, life's too short and we only have so much time. No need to worry about what's supposed to be an thoroughly enjoyable hobby.
Maybe I go too far sometimes. I've caught myself doing weed wacking and cutting down eucalyptus trees that start growing in the back yard with a chainsaw while a Breguet La Tradition is under my work gloves.

I had a great white shark encounter once while swimming. It was harrowing.

Kind of like having a fun car and never driving it for fear of dirt. I've always promised myself that if something is too precious to enjoy as intended, I'll just skip it. Others may disagree and that's fine too. Kent

I do what I do with what I am wearing.
My watches should conform to my life, not the other way around is how I see it.

I envy you . I try to wear all my watches as much as possible but i am very careful with them tbh .
When doing something (work on a car or at the house ) I always take off my watch . I even hate it when there is a fingerprint on it 🤷🏻♂️ . I hardly sell any of my watches but still try to keep them as fresh as possible.
The first dig always hurts, but only for a minute.
Life is short so go on and live it!
For me the key word is respect.
For the watch and the activity. Tool watches for active endeavours and dress watches for social occasions. But kudos for wearing MB&F while gardening. That's what I call spezzato!
