After reading your very eloquent description of the Piaget Altiplano Ultimate I was hoping for that image of the case-back. I very much like your writing and yes I'm certain there is a cabal of Genta zealots currently preparing the effigy. Even though I am a proud owner of a Cartier Pasha your passage about the "watch equivalent of a tricked out monster truck" had me laughing out loud. And I had to search "Roger Dubuis Sympathie" to see how the watch changed from the original S34 to the later iterations with the conventional round crystals... "awkwardly at odds with" is a diplomatic way of stating it. You however are quite fortunate to possess the two (TWO!) beautiful examples of the earlier version. Lucky you. Thanks for the informative and entertaining report on these lovely watches.

There's probably something there for everyone at this point. Yes, the subsidiary seconds are asymmetrically placed, no doubt in order to conserve vertical space, but they do add a bit of life to an otherwise very spare dial.

The dial of the Breguet reminds me of the 80s video game Q*Bert.

I beleive Q'Bert was invoked in an early blog review of this watch somewhere.
