Before the saphire was screwed: now it is put on a sort of frame.
Two reasons:
to improve the waterproof quality
to improve the production process
The saphire part was quite often damaged before when it was screwed.

i still have mine although i dont wear it very often. i've kept mine on the black steel mesh bracelet i put on it fairly early on. best for 2012 Graham
