It is my one and only Rado, though some of their other designs have caught my eye over the years. This one seems to be rather uncommon. The case is 35.5mm excluding the semi-recessed crown, and, interestingly, has a bayonet-style screw back. The movement ...  

What is it? Metal mesh? Metal coated fabric? And the clasp! Truly amazing! A whole generation of industrial designers should bow their heads in reverence for just the strap of this watch...

I don't know why Porsche Design or some other high design watch manufacture has not adopted this. Frankly Mike, I think you need a cooler head for this amazing strap.

I don't see them often, and they always have wild guilloche (or possibly some other process) dials. The differences between it and my others will be, shall we say, subtle, but I couldn't leave it alone. Restoration will be needed, however. I wish it would...

Busy dials & Seiko5s I recently bought one of these for my wife. A dial she can read and only $50 so no worries if she scratches it up doing the gardening. Here's to frivolity! Cazalea ...

These watches seem so "harmless" to your wallet and your collection, until one day you wake up and discover your cabinet is full and your wallet is empty. And that's with a half-dozen watches still at the watchmaker's being cleaned and restored ... just a...

Accorrding to my research on the net, it was produced in November of 1973 to commemorate the 50 th wedding ann. of Emperor Hiroshito who was the last Japanese emperor of Showa dynasty. The kanji character on the dial means " longevity".

This is the most 'frivolous' purchase made, in one respect: after literally years of not 'getting it' (or liking it) at all, this watch found its way into the collection last month and hasn't come off the wrist since! It's a funny old world, isn't it? Ch...

There's no apparent detent inside the clasp, just the slight impression on the top and a small bump so you don't go to far opening it. After a gentle "Cape Cod" cloth treatment to shiny it up a bit. Mike ...
